The holiday season is a magical time of year, filled with opportunities to create lasting memories with your loved ones. The list of Christmas activities across the web is nearly endless, but Here are seven activities we’ve collected that you can do with your family to make the most of the season:
#1 Decorate Your Christmas Tree
Whether you choose a real or artificial tree, decorating it together as a family can be a fun and festive activity. You can reminisce about the stories behind each ornament and enjoy the glow of the twinkling lights. If you are in the Knoxville area, you can get a beautiful live Fraser Fir tree at the Raise the Tree Magical Christmas Tree Farm or delivered to your doorstep from our online store! We often have decorating workshops or local decor available on site, so be sure to visit us this holiday season.
#2 Bake Christmas Cookies
Baking cookies is a delicious and creative way to spend time together. You can make traditional recipes or try something new. Here’s a yummy-looking one we’d like to try. And don't forget to leave some out for Santa!
#3 Visit a Christmas Market
Christmas markets are a great way to get into the holiday spirit. You can shop for unique gifts, enjoy festive food and drinks, and (who knows) maybe even meet Santa himself. Plan to stop in at the Raise the Tree Magical Christmas Tree Farm just outside Knoxville, TN, to see wares from local Knoxville Makers and items in our own Christmas shop!
#4 Watch Christmas Movies
Gather around the TV with some hot cocoa and popcorn for a Christmas movie marathon. Classics like "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Story" are always a hit, and one of our favorites that’s become a new classic is “Elf” with Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel and Bob Newhart.
#5 Make DIY Christmas Cards
Get crafty and make your own Christmas cards to send to friends and family. This can be a fun way for kids to express their creativity and spread holiday cheer. We recommend grabbing paper, clue and decorating supplies from a local Hobby Lobby or JOANN Fabric & Crafts store.
#6 Go Caroling
Spread the joy of the season by going caroling in your neighborhood. You can also visit a local nursing home or hospital to bring some holiday cheer to those who may need it most. Here’s a great YouTube playlist of songs for your outing… There are even choreographed moves!
#7 Volunteer Together
The holiday season is a great time to give back to your community. Consider volunteering as a family at a local food bank, homeless shelter, or charity event. In the Knoxville area, we recommend checking out volunteer opportunities at The Change Center or Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. For even more, be sure to reach out to the Knoxville Leadership Foundation. No heartfelt act of service goes unnoticed by the One whose opinion of us truly matters.
Remember, the most important part of the holiday season is spending time with those you love. Whether you're baking cookies, watching movies, or giving back to your community, these activities can help you create cherished memories and traditions with your family.
